Hike lost in the Bluestone Wild Forest [May 16]

Unread post by dave »

Wilderness Rescue in City of Kingston in Ulster County:

On May 16 at 1:10 p.m., Forest Ranger Horn responded to a call for two individuals lost in Bluestone Wild Forest. Ranger Horn made cell phone contact with the hikers, who didn't have any navigation tools. Ranger Horn instructed them to stay where they were until later locating the two subjects, providing water, and escorting them to the Morey Hill Road access. Resources were clear at 2:50 p.m.

NOTE: The Bluestone Wild Forest has a significant number of trail and it is easy to get lost. Furthermore, new trails are being added often. In addition new trails are created by mountain bike riders who just forge ahead through the forest. Eventually, it looks like a trail. It is a beautiful area, but make sure you have a current map before hiking there.
