Wilderness Rescue: On Sept. 26 at 3:35 p.m., Forest Ranger Schweider overheard radio traffic from Grahamsville Fire about an injured hiker on the Peekamoose Mountain blue trail. At 6:09 p.m., Ranger Schweider and the Fire Department's Assistant Chief reached the 70-year-old from Hurleyville and splinted the injured leg. Rangers worked with Grahamsville and Napanoch fire departments on the three-mile carryout. Rescue crews used a wheeled litter and a rope system to get through the steep terrain and rock faces. The Rangers made it to the trailhead at 10:22 p.m. Grahamsville EMS transported the patient to the hospital.
