Last year they had snowmobile drag racing on North/South lake. I don't know if they will continue again this year.

Snowmobiles are beneficial to hikers, but the snowmobile racing is a problem. When I was there last year, they would go past us at 100+ MPH. If they crashed, we could easily be killed. I am hoping that the DEC will step in this winter to put an end to the drag racing. Open mufflers, truck plowing of the lake, and high speed is not good. They need to go to the ADKs if they want to do that.

I COMPLETELY agree! These few will probably ruin it for everyone else.

There was a small number of people doing this, so maybe they will not return this year. last year, we have good amount of snow and cold weather for the ice.

We were there on Saturday. There were about 25 snowmobiles, which is a lot. But no drag racing going on. Some of the skiers were complains, but it really was not that bad.

From North Pt. on 24 Dec 2010 approx 1pm I viewed maybe 5-6 snowmobiles on South Lake.
By the time I got back to the gate house around 2:30, there was only one truck/trailer in
parking lot........Levi
