The Escarpment Trail between Kaaterskill Falls to the Horse Trail has become eroded due to weather erosion and overuse over the years. This summer the DEC has begun to make significant improvements to the trail. This should also help reduce the number of injuries that have happen over the years
on the Southwestern part of the Escarpment Trail.
They have already fixed the deeply eroded section between Kaaterskill Falls and Layman's Monument. The improvement is quite significant. They are now working on the section between Layman's Monument and the short-cut trail to the horse trail.
Here are a few of the improvements that have been made.
