DEC Releases Draft for the Trailless Peaks

Unread post by dave »

In 2022 the DEC released an extensive study on the overuse of the Trailless Peaks in the Catskill Mountains. Many of the bushwhack hikes by some the hiking clubs showed extensive fraternization (braiding) of these trailless peaks. There were suggestions of making official trails up some of these peaks. If this was to happen, this would be one of the largest introductions of new trails in the Catskill Mountains in many years.

After an extensive study of the problem, the DEC now has a number of possible solutions.
