Illegal signs at end of Barnum Road

Towards the end of April of 2018, it was brought to our attention by one of the land owners at the end of Barnum Road, that they wanted hikers to stop using the Black Dome Trail and the parking area at the end of Barnum Road. Brand new No Parking signs had just been put up. The land owner also complained that people where wandering onto their property, and making request of the home owners to use their bathrooms. The owner also stated that hikers could not park on the side of the road.

After an investigation, it was discovered that someone had put up two illegal No Parking signs at the parking area at the end of Barnum Road. The signs look like official town signs. But, they are not official town signs. Official signs will have stickers on the back of the signs. Neither sign had stickers. Furthermore, the signs were not worded correctly to be official. The town claims they did not put the signs up. Furthermore, the town does allow people to park on the side of the road. People can park and hiker there.

Again, we always tell people to be respectful of local land owners, and to not disturb them. Do not trespass on their land, and do not disturb them.
