I heard that they removed the plane near boulder rock.

I had heard that also. Not sure why the DEC would remove it. There are many other plane crashes they could easily remove, but don't. You cannot see it from the trail(s).
It is possible that because it is so close to North/South Lake, they removed it. A mystery for sure!
