First time poster here. Great website and resource for the catskills! I have a question about the conditions this weekend for an over night trip from Thomas Cole to Blackhead and Windham High Peak. We were planning on overnighting around the Bativia Kill lean-to. I was wondering if there's going to be ice on the summits because of the recent rains and the low temps at night.
Thanks!

It is suppose to be 28 to 29 in the valley. So, it will probably get down to 20-25 up there. While we did get some rain, it wasn't enough and it dried up quickly. You could bring microspikes if you are concerned. Climbing Blackhead is steep. But, it will warm up around 50 during the day. If you leave early in the morning, you might have some icy spots.

Sometimes when the ground is frozen, hiking is much easier. I would not worry about the cold weather. Maybe microspikes as an insurance policy. It is suppose to be great weather this weekend. You should have a great time. Post pics after the trip. Have fun!
