I had planned on hiking Overlook Mtn with one of my friends. But, his daughter went into labor, so those plans dissipated quickly. So, it became Plan "B". For the past year, I wanted to hike this route again. So Sunday morning I headed to Barnum Road PA.
On my car trip to the PA, I had an unusual experience. When I got to the top of the hill on Rt 23 in East Windham, I had a full grown Fisher cross the road right in front of me. Quite a sight. The Fisher then climbed up the cliff bank.
When I arrived at the PA there was two cars already there. Lucky me. Some one beat me to the PA, so that they could break out the trail. The storm from the previous day turned to snow at the end. But, in the PA it only left a dusting.
I first had to hike a 1/2 mile to get to the registration box
Shortly after I left the registration box the snow started to stick to the trees.
Here I am approaching the only real steep section - Difficult but not terrible
Above the Steep section the rime started to stick to the trees.
At times the clouds would roll away and expose the beautiful Cobalt skies.

Those are some great photos! I live the rime trees against the very blue sky.

I really dislike ice storms, but this is certainly the brighter side of these storms. Beautiful ice, rime, and snow covered branches. Thanks Mike for those gorgous pictures. Never realized that Camel's Hump was so beautiful. Must have been difficult to break the trail with all that ice.

Great Pictures! I was thinking of doing this hike soon, perhaps in the next week. Could I get away with barebooting or is there still enough snow to require snowshoes?

Last week someone I know hiked Blackhead. There is snow on top, but they barebooted it all the way. This is a nice hike when the leaves are not on the trees.
