Fall at Kaaterskill Falls

What a shame, again, for such a young life to go too soon. My condolences to the family.

Why is it that there can't be a "safe" trail made to the middle and top of Kaaterskill Falls? Yes there's signs. Yes you should obey them. But really, only a small percentage of people will do so. Atleast if there was a trail - steps - something...perhaps it would make it a bit more safe?

Thanks for the update. Not much information is being released until they notify his family.

They closed the trail a number of years ago because it was too dangerous. But, being State land, they can't stop people from taking it. On our hiking page of Kaaterskill Falls we specifically point how dangerous this path is. We hope that it saves someone's life. People can get to the top by driving there, and taking a very easy walk down to the top. The view from the top isn't that great. Certainly not worth risking your life.

It will be a very sad day for the family.
