Kaaterskill falls mid section closed

This might be old news but i just got back from the falls and the middle section is closed. It didnt stop people from going up it but it was roped off

Some parts have been closed since last year. They still have some work to do. They also need to put in the bridge over Lake Creek. The new bridge will be a couple hundred feet above the falls. I haven't been up the steps yet.

If it's closed are people being fined for going to the middle? Know there was talk of that.

I know that the DEC warned people that they would fine them if they hiked in that region. Not sure what they would do if you came down from the other side into the middle pool. I think that they have a closed sign up in places.
