Recent Trail Improvements by the DEC

Hunter-West Kill Wilderness: A stone staircase on the Diamond Notch Trail was repaired and the pit privy at the Diamond Notch lean-to was replaced.

Indian Head Wilderness: A stone staircase and bog bridges on the Devil's Path near Sugarloaf Mountain were repaired and the pit privy at the Mink Hollow lean-to was replaced.

Windham-Blackhead Range Wilderness: Construction of a trail reroute on the Blackhead Mountain Spur Trail which commenced in 2024 has been completed.

Bluestone Wild Forest: Bluestone Wild Forest contains six designated campsites that can be accessed from the Onteora Lake trailhead.

*Please be advised, the designated primitive campsite closest to the Onteora Lake Parking Lot on the Onteora Lake Loop Trail has been closed indefinitely due to public safety concerns.

Phoenicia-Mt. Tobias Wild Forest: DEC Operations replaced a step on the Mt. Tremper Fire Tower.
