We parked down near KF. It was easy to cross Lake Creek. There was still significant damage from Hurricane Irene. Spruce Creek was a mess. The old bridge abutment was damaged from the hurricane. We then hiked up the ski trail. It was too early to run into anyone. We then headed up the old Hotel Road. From there we took the 3rd ledge trail. the 3rd ledge trail is real old, and it passes thru Pine Orchard which is just beautiful. We then started to run into people. We stopped at Eagle Ledge and enjoyed the clear views of the Hudson Valley. From there we hiked to Boulder Rock. We ran into more people. Unfortunately, the views at Boulder Rock are now obstructed by overgrown trees. From here we headed down to the southern rim. This trail has many ledge, so you have to pay attention to what you are doing. But, it has so many great views. Ran into lots of people along this trail. At Sunset Ledge we stopped for lunch, and enjoyed the great views. We then hiked down to Council's Bluff and Layman's Monument. At the end we stopped at Kaaterskill Falls to enjoy the views and rest. Overall, we hiked about 6.25 miles and had a great day.
