Kaaterskill Falls

Unread post by mike »

After our hike this afternoon, we headed down to Kaaterskill Falls. The water was running strong, so I decided to take the hike up to the base of the Falls. It was too dangerous to approach the top of the falls, so I stuck to just the base of the Falls.

The trail was covered with snow and ice for 99% of the trail. I wear my microspikes, which worked very well. There were people hiking in penny loafers. It was pretty scary to watch. Dangerous too.

Here are some pictures:

Penny Loafers? Wow! It will not be long before we see our first death there. Did anyone try to get to the upper basin or the top of the falls?

Nice pic.

There was one set of foot prints going up. Hope they had cramp-ons. Seemed like a dangerous idea. Until the snow melts on top, and the ground thaws, I am going to stay away from the top.
