Huckleberry Point

Unread post by mike »

On Saturday, we headed to Platte Clove to hike the Huckleberry Trail. I haven't hiked this trail in quite a while. The weather was good. The temperature was around 70 degrees, but with high humidity and no wind. It would have been nicer with a little wind to cool us off. The parking lots were jammed, but very few hikers going up to KHP or Huckleberry Point. For a summer weekend, we had the trail to ourselves.

The stream crossing was pretty much uneventful. Not much water flowing, so no wet feet. When we got to the Huckleberry Point, there was a little haze, but still a nice view. We had lunch at the point. On the way back we bushwhacked from the stream to the road. Cut out about 3/4 of a mile.

When we got back, we hiked down to Bridal Veil Falls. In the past there was a hemlock tree blocking part of the view. The hemlock tree fell, and now there is a much nicer view of the Falls. There were a lot of hikers down in the Devil's Kitchen. I didn't go down into Hell's Hole.
