Ok now I understand the question about long/lat. Kaaterskill Falls and Whitney Point are about 115 miles apart and require crossing 88 but 88 is not a huge problems since there are times when there is not a car on the road. It is all forest and rock!

Mike, I don't think know this water tower. I know the one near N/S lake along the old rail bed, but I don't know of one near 23A. Where is it?

Hello Dundee,

The water tower along Route 23A collapsed several years ago (possibly due to Irene or Sandy). It has either been completely removed or is now a pile of scrap wood.

If you were ascending Route 23A from Kaaterskill Clove, the water tower was on your left just before you made the right turn to take the road to North/South Lake. The tower was actually down in a ravine (I suspect it was moved after the Ulster and Delaware RR was abandoned) and was not immediately obvious from the road.
