New aerial drone footage of Kaaterskill Falls!

Unread post by JerseyDrone »

Hi guys and gals, please let me know what you think of my video from Kaaterskill falls. If you look at the top right at the 2:35 mark, you can see the top of the falls from a distance, then further in I get up close and personal :) Hope you enjoy!
There is another video on my channel from that region labeled fall foliage if you want to check that one out as well.

A drone. Just what I'd want to hear and see in the woods.

I enjoyed the video and the post-production. Nice smooth flying!

I assume this was taken with a drone with a Go-Pro attached to it? The DJI Phantom models with the camera already installed do not record sound.

awesome flight! I am with dundee in some respects as this is not what I want to see in the woods. But boy do I love seeing the product of drone flights!

Sounds like some of the birds were dubbed over the real sound though.

Looks like the ledges could fall, so much undercutting has occurred. Nice video ! Legality ?

AFAIK, it would be legal in a Wild Forest area (so far) like K-Falls. However, it would be considered a motor vehicle in a Wilderness Area and therefore illegal.

SAR have been using them with pretty good success looking for lost hikers in rough and inaccessible terrain. Drones are so new that some governments are not sure how to handle them. Surprised someone hasn't used one to see the Five Cascades.

Sweet video of KF. Thanks for the link.

The FAA actually regulates and controls the airspace. There is suppose to be a new registration for drones starting shortly. The DEC doesn't have the legal authority over them. The NPS had quite a problem with them. A few bad apples were behaving badly. Right now there are very few rules for them. For example, you can't fly them near airports. I suspect as incidents crop up, new regulations will be created.
