After a week in the Catskills, my last evening was a memorable one. A friend and I headed to the crest of Kaaterskill fall. Just a few hours earlier, the skies had been crystal clear. Fortunately, we were treated to some nice clouds with a break at the horizon. The water was really flowing, creating beautiful backlit mist in the gorge below. If you want to see what this looked like nearly 200 years ago (not much as changed), check out Thomas Cole's "From the Top of Kaaterskill Falls". His painting was taken from a point just a few yards upstream of where I was.
