Yellowstone Fall

Unread post by Jon »

A woman fell to her death along the North Rim trail in Yellowstone's Grand Canyon. She had just started her new job at one of the concessions in the park, and was hiking with friends. At a spot called Inspiration Point she went off trail and close to the edge and sat on some rocks and posed for a picture. The rocks gave way beneath her and she fell 400 feet to her death.

Thanks for the post Jon. People falling off ledges cause most deaths for hikers. Here are two more links about the story:

Very sad story. The girl had only been in the park for 3 hours on her 1st day of work at Yellowstone. Probably just finished orientation, and went for a walk. They said that they were trying to get a picture when the rock broke away from the ledge. Other person standing next to her almost fell too. They are also saying that the 18 year old girl was from Russia.

Very sad story. Hard to believe that she had only been there 3 hours.
