Hiker Injured near Hunter/Lexington
On Tuesday, April 10, 2011, a 54-year-old male was injured after he fell while hiking in the region. He was able to get to a parking area on Rt 23a in the Town of Lexington to call for help. The Lexington Rescue Squad and Greene County Paramedics were called to the scene where he was transported to a nearby hospital. He sustained injuries to his chest. He was having trouble breathing and had back injuries. While the details are limited, we did receive an unconfirmed report that he might have been hiking somewhere on the ridge of mountains between Evergreen Mtn and Balsam Mtn.

That is a long way to hike out from. Curious to why he hiked to Rt 23a instead of Spruceton Road. There are some ledges near Rusk, and maybe he didn't think he could get across the creek?
Hope that he is okay.
