Rt 23a is closed again.
Rt 23 is closed at the Five-State viewing area: Road block by National Guard & State Police.

If you don't live on the Mountaintop, you cannot go there.

I am told that you can get past the road block on Rt 23 fairly easily. Just need a reason to go there. So, if you are coming up to stay, you can get thru.

Colgate Road: Two openings in the road. One very close to bridge. Second one further up. Over 100 people were stranded.

Our FedEx guy said that the engineers closed the bridge on Rt 296. So, you have to get off on Rt 23c. Then take scribner hollow road to rt 23a.

With all the rain we have had over the past couple of days, the streams are rising again. Some minor flooding. They have closed some of the roads because of the rain. Some of the temporary repairs were washed out.

I expect the roads to reopen again for the weekend. Many businesses are complaining that they have little business, and they desperately need more business. If you are staying away, please reconsider your plans.

They did suffer from Irene. There are some washed out roads, and damaged bridges. But, it is not as severe as the eastern side of the Catskills.

There was some flooding. But, nothing more then usual after a bag rain. But, there is no destructive flooding like we saw with Irene.

I should also note that most of the flooding has receded. Which is always good news!

Greg Koziol wrote:Does anyone know how Sullivan county roads/bridges/trails are doing since the storm?? Specifically Northern Sullivan and South western Ulster - around Livingston Manor, Roscoe, Mongaup Pond Campground, Cooley/Parksville and up toward the Willowemoc area and frost valley
I drove from West Kill to Jeffersonville on September 24. The Road from 28 to the Frost Valley Y is closed, with the worst damage near the peak near the Winisook Club. I had to take 28 past Margaretville (largely open, one lane closed in some spots), then 30 around the Pepacton Reservoir, then 206 to Roscoe. South of Roscoe, there was very little damage. Te damage is mostly to the north of the areas you mention.
