Rt 23a from Palenville to Haines Falls has been closed until further notice. This is due to storm damage to the road from this weeks heavy rain storms. Over the past couple of weeks over 10-15 inches of rain has fallen in some areas. At this time we do not have information on where the damage is located and how extensive the damage is. Nor, do we know how long it will take to fix.

Road closures for Rt 23a between Palenville and Haines Falls had already been scheduled from Oct. 11, at 7 a.m. until Friday, Oct. 14, at 4 p.m to bring in concrete pods to stabilize the road. This is part of a 3.4 million dollar project.

Rt 23a has been opened to 1-lane of traffic. With more storms coming this could change. So, check before coming.

Worked out well this afternoon. Headed down the mountain through that area about 3:30. About 5 cars each side. Returning from a visit to hunter there was over 50 cars parked at the Mountain Top Historical Society. Regards,Ed
