The leaf foliage is now finished on the mountaintop of the Catskill Mountains. There still some small pockets of trees where they have not fallen off the trees. If you do visit the Catskill Mountains, you want to stay at lower elevations (like 1500'). Areas such as Tannersville and Windham are almost completely devoid of leaves. But, areas between Catskill NY and Palenville NY are at peak. Staying at the Winter Clove Inn would be excellent this weekend. Rip's Ledge will be at peak.

The peak time last the past weekend (Oct 13-19).

1,000'+ elevation - 90% changed - 50% Fallen
2,400'+ elevation - 100% changed - 90% Fallen
3,500'+ elevation - 100% changed - 100% Fallen
Browning: Moderate to significant

The leaf foliage is now past peak on the mountaintop of the Catskill Mountains. There are still some nice leaves in the mountain valleys. With temperatures in the high teens on Sunday night, any remaining green leaves will chance quickly. The leaves outside of the Catskill Mountains at lower elevations should still be quite nice and at peak. But, for the mountains, most of the leaves will be past peak and be down.

The peak time last the past weekend (Oct 13-19).

1,000'+ elevation - 75% changed - 20% Fallen
2,400'+ elevation - 100% changed - 40% Fallen
3,500'+ elevation - 100% changed - 100% Fallen
Browning: Moderate to significant

The leaf foliage is at or near peak. The leaves have been changing slowly, which is nice. This coming weekend should be excellent. There is some browning of some leaves. This coming weekend is forecast to be cold. If you visit this weekend, it should be at peak or slightly beyond. Additionally, there should be a lot of falling leaves.

The peak time will be this coming weekend to the following weekend (Oct 13-19).

1,000'+ elevation - 50% changed - 10% Fallen
2,400'+ elevation - 75% changed - 20% Fallen
3,500'+ elevation - 100% changed - 40% Fallen
Browning: Moderate

The leaf foliage is progressing, but a ways away from peak. Our guess is that the peak will be around Oct 14th. We had a frost on the higher peaks last Saturday (Oct 3). This will make the leaves turn quickly. But, lower elevations didn't get a frost, so the leaves will lag in the valleys. . There is some browning of some leaves. Some regions have significant changing leaves, while nearby, there may be no changing of leaves.

The peak time will be this coming weekend to the following weekend (Oct 10-17).

1,000'+ elevation - 15% changed - 1% Fallen
2,400'+ elevation - 25% changed - 5% Fallen
3,500'+ elevation - 50% changed - 10% Fallen
Browning: Moderate

The leaf foliage is just getting started. There is some browning of some leaves. There are a few small pockets of changing leaves in the NE Catskills. mainly on the higher peaks, like Blackhead Mountain. If you live outside the Catskill Mtn, now is NOT the time to come and see the fall foliage. We suspect that we are still 1-2 weeks away.

Also - since we had a wet Spring there is the potential of vibrant colors. BUT, only if we get a good freeze. We didn't get that a cold snap, so the Fall Foliage will have more dull browns then vibrant red, orange, and yellow leaves. This coming weekend is suppose to be warmer then normal. Right now we do not see a cold snap in the forecast for the next week.

1,000'+ elevation - 1% changed - 0% Fallen
2,400'+ elevation - 5% changed - 0% Fallen
3,500'+ elevation - 25% changed - 0% Fallen
Browning: Moderate
