I'm a bit late on posting this... but yeah... freak snow storm!!! I came from the north on 23 through Beech Ridge Road. Some of the pictures from the view show amazing contrast between frosty summit and valley fall foliage.

You can see a white ledge in the middle of Hunter's mass. I'm pretty sure that's the view a few tenths of a mile from the fire tower.

This was something I'll always remember. There was no wind, all quiet on the West Kill front, and the weight of snow was bringing down beech leaves one by one. All I heard around me were the slight plucking noises (hard to describe) of the leaf stems breaking from the twigs and landing on the snow.

Very nice photos! Always like the look of snow on conifer trees. Keep posting these great trail reports.
