Perfect day to be out. No crowds- ran into 3 small groups, one said over 300 hikers were on Hunter the previous Saturday.

Went up steep Becker Hollow, got even steeper through the old growth birch, then cut over to the tower, fab views. Took trail down to Devils Acre- Devils Path and over to SW Hunter, easy herdpath to follow. then went down to Gegier Point which sits low in a wooded bowl, then back up to Devils acre and down the steep Devils path switchbacks past fine cliff bands to Route 214,

about 6,25 hours total. Water plentiful at devils acre and at small spring at top of Becker hollow. Bear scat in spots. All trails clear. Illegal campsite (above 3500) on herdpath beginning.

You can never go wrong hiking to the top of Hunter Mtn. Hunter has become quite popular.

the trail over to Leavitt (SW Hunter) Mtn. has been a large path for a number of years. Mainly because it used to have rail road tracks on it. And, someone cut open the path about 5 years ago.

The DEC should just put up trail emblems. The trail is better then the official trails.
