They are probably the best for lite ice walking. The rubber band can break, which is the weak point. They are not a substitute for crampons. But, great for limited ice hiking. I think that they are overpriced. I have a pair that I keep in my pack.

Yeah, sort of like when we hiked Poet's Ledge this Spring. It was a sheet of ice.
