Mountain Lions in New York State

Unread post by rkugel »

My friend in Binghamton, NY told me that he works with a fellow who has a motion sensor camera in his backyard to photograph wildlife (usually deer) that eats from a nearby apple tree. Anyway, one evening the guy claims that his camera snapped a shot of a mountain lion.

I have asked my friend to see if he can obtain a copy of the photo. If so, I will definitely post it.

Oh, I would like to see that picture! I have another person who alleges that he was one in East Windham, and another one in Oak Hill with a cub. Without pictures, it is hard to determine. He also saw one on Rt 214 two winters ago. We were able to see the tracks. This controversy has been going on a long time. Really need to get a picture of one.

You hear so many stories, but never see a single picture. A picture would be nice. Mountain lions like to go after deer.

I heard from my friend over the weekend and it turns out the mountain lion was really a coyote. Darn! In any event, I apologize for the false alarm.
