MTHS - Dr Kudish on bogs

Unread post by mike »

On Friday night we visited the old U&D station where Dr Michael Kudish had a lecture on the bogs of the Catskill Mountains. Meet a few new people. Had a good time. As always, the lecture was great and interesting.

I don't really understand what a bog is? Is it like a swamp?

I think a bog is an area that is mossy, and gets it's water from rain and snow and usually doesn't have a inflow or outflow of water. It is very acidic. Bushes usually grow out of the bog. Everything gets preserved in the bog. The one bog I remember the most is the one by badman's cave.
