Today Hunter Mountain has set a tentative opening date as Saturday December 5, 2009. The reason for the date is that long-range weather forecast are predicting colder weather next week. You can read more about it here:

Not being open for Thanksgiving will result is a hit on revenue for them. It is assumed that Windham Mtn will do the same.

They are making snow on one slope. On Thursday, it is going to be near 60 degrees. Not sure how this is going to work out.

Hunter Mtn is determined to open this weekend. If they start to make snow tonight and tomorrow, they might be able to open this weekend. Don't think that they will have a lot of snow.

They are also talking about putting in another high-speed lift. Don't know the location yet.

They are now alleging that they will open mid-week. Around Dec 9/10. The weather actually looks pretty good for this happening. I would suspect that they will have more then one slope open.

Hunter is making snow from mid-mountain up. No snow being made on the lower section of the mountain.

Windham is making snow from top-to-bottom.

Looks like both are in the push to open.

After hiking Plattekill Mtn, we drove past Hunter Mtn. They were making snow on the center run and
Belt Parkway. They have good weather ahead of them.
